PARTNER is working in collaboration with Darwin-based Airport Development Group (ADG) to secure an influential, collaborative, and professional Energy Business Manager to join them in a newly created role, reporting to the Executive General Manager – Commercial.

Airport Development Group owns and manages diverse infrastructure assets across the Northern Territory, including airports, hotels, aviation, and commercial buildings, and has ambitious plans to expand into Western Australia and Queensland. 

The primary objective of the Energy Business Manager is to maximise the capital value and net income of the energy business owned by Airport Development Group (ADG). The energy business includes embedded portfolio networks at Darwin, Alice Springs, and Tennant Creek Airports. The Energy Business Manager is also expected to make a substantial contribution towards the achievement of ADG’s aspiration to become net zero by 2030.

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven track record in formulating and executing business unit strategies tailored for energy assets. 
  • Successfully managed distributed portfolio networks spanning multiple geographic locations.
  • Extensive experience in conducting comprehensive feasibility studies for both new energy assets and upgrades.
  • Skilled in negotiating energy procurement and retailing agreements, ensuring favorable outcomes.
  • Recognised for leading the charge in implementing a portfolio-wide NABERS enhancement strategy, delivering on ESG objectives with distinction.
  • The ability to effectively influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Knowledge of best-in-class energy data collection practices and analysis.
  • Knowledge of the NT energy market would be advantageous
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and achieve ADG’s ambition to become an energy supplier of choice.

THE ROLE

  • Develop a 5-year business unit strategy for ADG’s energy assets, including identification of capital upgrades.
  • Create annual operating budgets with forecasted future revenue and ensured timely reporting.
  • Establish energy supply agreements and contracts to optimize operations.
  • Spearhead the initiative for Darwin Airport to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.
  • Identify, develop and negotiate energy supply agreements with ADG’s retail customers.
  • Identify required capital upgrades, prioritise those capital upgrades and maintain a lifecycle capital expenditure forecast for the energy assets.
  • Develop and act as principal for the energy assets annual budget including revenue and cost management.
  • Forecast future revenue and operating expenses and take measures to maximise net operating income over the life of the asset strategy.
