PARTNER is supporting Perth Airport in search of a Renewable Energy Manager for their Energy Group.  

Your role will be to drive strategy and growth of new and existing renewable energy solutions and use your local market knowledge to engage with key stakeholders. 

The position will suit someone who wants to apply their knowledge of engineering design, project management, and delivery of renewables, including solar, battery, wind, and electrification. You will also work closely with energy partners and Regulators.

ABOUT YOU

  • You will be a proven renewable energy market leader with outstanding technical skills and credibility within the WA energy industry. You will leverage your expertise and relationships to advise and implement a renewable energy strategy for the Perth Airport and its future expansions. 
  • A recognised engineering qualification (bachelor’s degree in power systems engineering or similar)
  • Extensive experience in a power distribution network environment.
  • Clean Energy Council (CEC) Accreditation is advantageous
  • Experience driving renewable energy strategies and the development and delivery of future renewable energy projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in leadership of renewables development across a power distribution network, including asset lifecycle planning, management, maintenance, and design and connection at 22KV and 132KV, including LV switchboards, transformers, LV/HV cable systems associated with renewables.
  • Proven experience across the utilities sector encompassing renewable asset lifecycle planning, management, maintenance, and design as the asset owner and/or commercial contract service partner.
  • Experience developing and managing the process for renewable systems equipment selection, including developing minimum standards for FAT, SAT, and associated ITP, as well as the ongoing minimum standards for inspection to ensure that the asset lifecycle minimises asset lifetime risk to people and property and reputational damage.
  • Experience with energy market operations and fundamentals (PPAs, tariffs, wholesale market, energy despatch, energy import/export).
  • Experience managing engineering assessments, studies, and modelling across utility disciplines, associated reporting, and familiarity with PSCAD, PSS/E, Python, and DigSILENT preferred.

THE ROLE

  • Develop renewables and sustainable energy systems across the PAPL Electrical network and energy system operation, including carbon-neutral strategies, distribution systems, generation options and storage technologies. Renewables development and integration with the electrical network and related systems. 
  • Responsible for developing a CAPEX /OPEX investment plan for renewables aligned to an asset lifecycle management philosophy, delivering economic carbon neutral and emissions-reducing strategies for the PAPL business. 
  • Support the development of Tenant and PAPL Renewables and manage the Western Power Access Application process for the PAPL estate and each connected generation system.
  • Responsibility and oversight for the Integration, Reliability, and Continuity of PAPL systems, including those directly and indirectly connected (SCADA, Zenon, Protection, Metering, Fibre).
  • Provide expert advice and direction to key internal stakeholders.
  • Accountable for establishing, through negotiation and alignment to minimum standards of operation, Operational Protocols with Internal stakeholders for PAPL Renewables systems and Tenants for the use of Renewables that are current and reviewed annually.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Critical and Essential spares for renewable systems are managed and at an appropriate level, with equipment/assets stored, available, and ready for deployment. 
  • Responsible for engagement with the Southwest Interconnector System Operator
