Network/Power System Engineer

As a Network Engineer, support the Network Manager and utilise your knowledge and experience while developing professional skills to leverage emerging innovations in engineering and technology for application across our client’s Energy and Electrical Infrastructure Systems, including the 22 KV Embedded Distribution Network and other Utility Network Systems as needed, ensuring safety and sustainability.

The role encompasses responsibilities such as developing and implementing Policies, Operating Standards, and Processes; conducting Engineering Assessments, Studies, and Modelling; overseeing Design (from concept to operation) and equipment selection; managing Network and System Operations including Critical Spares Analysis; evaluating Network Stability, Security, and Planning; providing Engineering SME support to the client’s business; and developing CAPEX/OPEX investment plans aligned with an Asset Lifecycle Management philosophy.

The goal is to deliver safe, cost-effective, carbon-neutral, and emissions-reducing strategies for our client’s business.

The Ideal candidate will have:

  • Engineering degree in Power Systems or similar, with 5 years’ experience in power distribution networks; additional qualifications in civil, hydraulics, or telecommunications are advantageous.
  • Preferred Chartered Engineer (CPEng), RPEQ, NER, and Clean Energy Council (CEC) Accreditation.
  • Proficient in power distribution engineering, including asset lifecycle planning, management, maintenance, and design across LV/22KV/132KV systems, including switchboards, transformers, and renewables (EV, Solar, Wind, Biomass, etc.).
  • Experience in utilities (gas, hydraulics, telecommunications) with a focus on asset lifecycle management and design.
  • Skilled in equipment selection and standards development for FAT, SAT, and inspections to minimize asset risks.
  • Experienced in engineering assessments, studies, and modeling; familiar with PSCAD, PSS/E, Python, and Digsilent.
  • Proven ability to manage technical engagement with state utility authorities and oversee the integration of utility network design with GIS/Spatial and asset management systems.
